"My awaking is almost identical to yours. Just fade off into the sunset. If you disassociate it might drive a wedge between you and your wife."
Welcome! I quite agree with this advice. It's actually to their credit that those liberal elders gave you a pass when you articulated your misgivings, and were willing to let you fade into the sunset.

So JW's are not allowed to vote because.... "no part of this world." Ok then explain why the WTBTS lobbied politicians on numerous
by kpop insorry if this was posted before but if it was then it is worth repeating and discussing.
the hypocrisy of the jw cult knows no bounds.
supposedly, the reason jw's are not allowed to vote is because they must not be a part of this world.

I recall one incident in NYC during the mayoralty of Ed Koch. A group of JWs were demonstrating in front of City Hall over some issue relating to zoning. His Honor surveyed the scene from his office window, turned to an aide and remarked: "there's not a single vote among 'em."

Anyone read the latest Awake (on the supernatural)?
by LoveUniHateExams injust read some of this latest awake on the org's webshite.. it begins by talking about the 'supernatural' - wizards, witches, vampires, etc.
- their popularity and why they might appeal to people.
then it goes on to state the wt belief that someone is 'behind it'.. now, i like a few horror/scary films - when i was a kid, i always actually liked being a bit scared by them, tbh.. the silence of the lambs, a nightmare on elm street (1984), the ring, the witch, the thing (1982) and a few others are all great, imo.. they are just genres and subgenres of film, that's all.

I know many of the young people in the film. It was mostly filmed in and around Hackensack, NJ, by a wealthy JW named Timothy Galfas. He was a producer of film and tv commercials etc. and a close associate of Milton Henschel, and other big shots.Hackensack is a short drive to NY, and he often entertained senior Bethelites there, with lavish dinners on the weekends.
Quite remarkably, Galfas was given a pass on sporting a goatee, and generally appeared to be "bullet-proof" and "untouchable" by the locals because of his relationship to Bethel heavies.
He even conducted the WT at the local KH and had parts at circuit assemblies, usually involving "family values," during which he would trot out his gaggle of kids. (all cute) ... don't remember how many, but it was at least five..onto the stage. There was some local grumbling about his having allegedly filmed a Marlboro cigarette commercial (in fairness, I don't know if he actually did), but again, the locals were advised to give him a pass.
Max Larson, and one Dave Madsen, if I recall, also acted in the film.
